Wedding // Siva + Abhy

wedding

When Abhy first contacted me, I was wondering what ethnicity she is. Certainly the name doesn’t sounds like Chinese name to me at all! Lo and behold, I guess it right, She is an Indian. Now that puzzled me, Indian, really? Am I gonna shoot an Indian wedding? So after we exchanging emails and text messages couple of time, we have confirmed to work out together and I was all happy about it. I heard about Indian wedding is one colorful events! It must be fun!

Indeed the wedding is an eye-opener to me. Thou Siva and Abhy had a ‘minimalist’ version of the ceremony but there were still very formal and proper. I totally salute the details that Indian pay attention to, so many of them! Those are wonderful!

I had Benjamin Lim to help me this time round. He is one humble man, eager to learn. Glad to work with you bro! Great having you as companion on the road, KL-Bentong-KL. :D

I want to thank Siva and Abhy for giving me a chance to be part of your wedding day and entrusted me to photograph the memorable event. I wish you both happy and sweet marriage!

I like the fabric :)

The head piece is HEAVY. Spelled Bold and Capitalized!

My dream car, a white 5 series. *ahem*

Can you imagine this is actually a school hall?

Siva is at the altar, for the first part of the ceremony. And I thought he’s truly minimalist, as compare to real Indian wedding. Until then, later.

As mentioned above, Siva changed later for the second part of the ceremony. Now that’s handsome. I mean even more handsome. :D

There was a videographer, has a video light so huge, heavy and hot (that makes 3H), it lights up the whole stage and it has a powerpoint carry on his shoulder to power the light. So not portable. But thank goodness many times the light added little drama in the photo, like this:

Of course there will be music! But I don’t know what is this instruments here. Drum and flute, kinda.

This so unpredictable grain tossing that I have missed Abhy’s expression of being surprised, or shocked. But I think this one made it too.

Wedding // Silva + Sophine
Tuesday, 23rd of June 2009
wedding

When an Italian met a Chinese, the story become more beautiful and extraordinary. Silva the handsome Italian  wed Sophine the air stewardess based Hong Kong last month in Kuala Lumpur, where Sophine is originally from. I have met with Sophine couple of time prior to her wedding. She is a nice girl to talk to, charming and easy-going. Silva is smart, that is the first impression to me when I met him few days before the wedding. I love photographing them because they are fun people! A lot of laughter just being with them, you really can’t missed it.

What is beautiful about cross racial wedding like this, the Italian are curious about the chinese tradition and they want to participate too even thou they do not really understand about it. I told one of their friend saying we chinese are noisy. “We Italian too! :D So now is very noisy!” What a joyful day.

That day, I also had Leanne Lee who helped me. She is really good! No kid. By judging the gears she has, she definitely a professional! Of course, her works are impressive too. Glad that I have her with me that day, lighten me many ways. :D

Here goes some of the photos.

She is preparing the stuff for the guys to wear. A chinese way, not to let the groom come to get the bride as easy, they must go through some obstacles and barriers set by the brides mate. A ‘scary’ part.

The guys were trying to force fully pushing in, and the girls were blocking hard!

Daddy was the famous celebrity that day! Really. See he is lucky.

This boy was asked to kiss Sophine, but he is shy, so he joke.

This is my favourite of all.

We had a few moment for portrait before we call the morning session off, around the hotel.

The guests were enjoying the slideshow.

As chinese wedding, a lot of ‘Yum Seng’ were going on!
